EMILY RAHN
BIO
Emily Rahn is a professional performer and music educator who is passionate about sharing the joy of music and trumpet with her community. She has been providing private trumpet instruction since 2017 and holds two bachelor’s degrees in instrumental music education and trumpet performance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a master’s degree in trumpet performance from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
During her time in Missouri, Emily served as a graduate assistant for Mizzou’s trumpet studio. Her responsibilities included performing in Mizzou Brass and the New Music Ensemble, designing and teaching trumpet method curriculum to music education majors, and providing trumpet instruction to non-music majors enrolled in the studio. She also taught regularly through the Community Music Program.
Within the last few years, Emily has performed with groups such as the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, and Wisconsin Symphonic Winds. She has also performed in masterclasses for world-renowned artists such as Marc Geujon (Wisconsin Trumpet Guild Conference, 2018), Jens Lindemann (Midwest Trumpet Festival, 2022), and Ronald Romm (Midwest Trumpet Festival, 2023).
In addition to these positions and achievements, Emily was awarded the Chancellor’s Leadership Award and the Melvin R. Laird Exceptional Artist Award in 2021. She also performed as assistant principal trumpet of the CBDNA North Central Division Intercollegiate Honors Band in 2020.
